The day-to-day operations of the Schinzler Foundation are handled by the Board of Directors, which works on a voluntary basis.
There are currently three members: Dr. Michael Menhart, Michaela Schindler and Andrea Prange.

The Board of Directors is appointed by the full Board of Management of Munich Re for a period of two years.

Michaela Schindler has been working in various roles at Munich Re since July 1996. Since 2006, she has been responsible for the topic of entry programmes and junior staff development in reinsurance as training manager in the Learning & Development team in the Human Resources division. Her tasks include, among other things, recruiting apprentices and dual students as well as supporting and developing them over the duration of their training programmes. In her senior role, she is responsible for the content of entry programmes and for the overarching HR support of the trainees in the Global Trainee Programme. In addition, she decides on the funding of part-time degree programmes and further training.
Before Michaela Schindler joined Munich Re in 1996, she completed a Chamber of Industry and Commerce apprenticeship as an insurance clerk in the primary insurance sector at HDI in Munich and then worked in the settlement of motor claims. Alongside her job, she studied Business Administration at the Academy for Administration and Business in Munich and successfully completed her studies.
For Michaela Schindler, volunteering in the community means taking responsibility, helping others and thus contributing to positive coexistence.

Dr. Michael Menhart has been the Munich Re Group’s Chief Economist since 2007. In this role, he is responsible for the topic areas of national and international economics, economic policy, and research on insurance markets and future trends, among others.
Since 2017, Dr. Menhart has also been head of the Central Division Economics, Sustainability & Public Affairs at Munich Re.
Before moving to Munich Re in 2005, Dr. Menhart was a business consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he advised global companies operating in the financial and insurance sectors on strategic projects.

Ms Prange has been working since 2016 in the area of strategy communication in the Central Division Group Communications. As of 2019, she has been responsible for “Strategic Topics and Events”, heading an international team of communicators in Munich and at various locations in the USA and Australia. In her current position, Ms Prange is responsible for developing and refining Munich Re’s core content and messages, with the aim of driving forward business and corporate strategies. She ensures that strategic communication concepts support the overall communication of corporate strategy both internally and externally.
She has worked in a range of functions at Munich Re since 2002. After starting as a consultant for organisation development, in 2008 she switched to the Strategy Development department, where she was responsible for a range of projects aimed at reviewing and modifying Munich Re’s business strategies. She also led projects on due diligence and post-merger integration. In 2015, she then moved to the Group HR department as Group HR Manager. This role in the CEO Division is responsible for identifying and developing candidates as part of succession planning for managers at the top executive level within the Munich Re Group.
After completing a degree in economics and an executive MBA, she began her career at an international management consultancy, focusing on process and strategy consulting.
Andrea Prange is happy to use her skills to help the work of the Schinzler Foundation, as she feels that her work there contributes not only to the overall success of the Group, but also to an important social cause.
